Burrier Road Landslide Remediation

Burrier Road Landslide Remediation Burrier Road Landslide Remediation

About the Project

Jirgens Civil was engaged by Shoalhaven City Council as part of their natural disaster recovery program to remediate the Burrier Road landslide. The project involved critical embankment stabilization works to ensure the safe and reliable restoration of this vital infrastructure.

Client

Shoalhaven City Council

Location

Burrier, NSW

Scope

The project required the excavation and beneficial reuse of approximately 4,000 tonnes of material from the site. To stabilize the embankment, we fabricated and installed 1,300 cubic meters of gabion baskets, providing a durable structure. Additionally, 78 passive soil nails and 32 micro piles were installed, complemented by an associated capping beam. This formed the foundation for reconstructing 600 meters of road pavement, applying a two-coat seal, and installing new guard rails.

Our Solution

Despite the challenges of working in height-restricted conditions, all works were successfully carried out without the need for full road closures. The project was completed safely, ensuring minimal disruption to road users and efficiently restoring the road infrastructure in Burrier. This remediation effort enhances the resilience of the local transport network, contributing to the region’s ongoing recovery from natural disasters.
