About the Project

Jirgens Civil was engaged for the construction of a new InQuik bridge over Yarramunmun Creek in Yalwal, Shoalhaven. The project aimed to enhance flood resilience and improve traffic safety at this critical crossing point, ensuring continuous access for the local community during the build. A key achievement was the completion of the works without requiring a closure of the existing crossing, minimizing disruptions.

Client

Shoalhaven City Council

Location

Yalwal, NSW

Scope

The project involved extensive civil works, starting with the excavation and installation of nine cast in-situ concrete piles, each reaching a depth of 6 meters. Two new concrete abutments and wing walls were constructed, along with a central headstock to support the dual-span bridge structure. The bridge components were positioned and poured within a tight three-week schedule, demonstrating both precision and efficiency in project execution.

Our Solution

The successful completion of the Yaramunmun Bridge within the allotted time frame provided several critical outcomes. The new bridge offers significantly improved flood resistance, ensuring it can withstand adverse weather conditions and maintain accessibility. Additionally, the modern structure creates safer conditions for vehicles and pedestrians, contributing to long-term safety and infrastructure resilience in the area.
